Discipline of Personality

To achieve discipline over your personality, knowledge of self is important. It is not helpful to the growth of understanding, however, to control your thoughts or impulses except when these may result in infringing on the free-will of another. Exercising control over thoughts and impulses may allow you to achieve discipline of personality, peace, and illumination but by doing so you will necessitate further experiences to balance this repression of the self. Instead, acceptance of self, forgiveness of self, and strengthening and directing your will is the path toward a disciplined personality. Few realize how very powerful the faculty of will is within each of us. As your personality becomes stronger, use care in directing your will because it can be used in ways that could lessen your polarity along the path you have chosen.

When done consciously, fasting can be used to eliminate unwanted thoughts. By employing the discipline to abstain from eating, this bodily action can be understood by your mind as an analogy for ridding yourself of the unwanted thoughts. This, then, will be deeply absorbed by the mind, reaching down its hierarchical structure to the subconscious where the connection is made to rid yourself of the unwanted material, whether it is of mind, body, or spirit. In this way the unwanted thoughts fall away even as you acknowledge that they remain a part of your greater self. As your understanding of techniques for programming your mind develop, you will be able to do away with fasting altogether and achieve the same result through the exercise of your will alone.

Ra provided four exercises that can help develop the mind. The 1st exercise is to continuously seek to find the love/light within each moment. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th exercises are to see the infinite creator whenever you see another person, whenever you look in a mirror, and whenever you look at the world around you. Meditation or any practice that stills the mind provides the foundation for these exercises to be productive. Without meditative practice, the benefit of these exercises will not sink deep into the roots of the mind. Combined with meditative practice, these exercises will ennoble your body and touch your spirit.

These posts have attempted to provide an overview of some of the material found in the Ra Contact series of books. However, 3rd density is not a plane for completely understanding these things. It is a plane for accepting the catalytic experiences that life presents and facing them with love, or more precisely, finding the love within them.
